Jane Vinson Dorman

Jane Vinson Dorman, 71, of LaGrange, passed away March 8, 2018, at the West Georgia Hospice, LaGrange, Georgia.

Jane was born in Montgomery, Alabama, on Aug. 2, 1947, the daughter of Alpheus Alexander Dorman and Janice Elizabeth Dorman. She received her bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and her master’s of divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. Jane served in the United States Navy as a photographer and received the National Defense Service Medal. Following her active service, she was a member of the National Guard Reserves. Jane was ordained as deacon in 1995 and served in that capacity at St. John’s Episcopal Church in College Park. From 1998 to the present, she served as deacon at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in LaGrange. She was also a paraprofessional at Cannon Street Elementary School in LaGrange, and longtime member of the Board of Directors of the Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministry.

She is survived by her sister, Lynda Dorman Lott of Norcross, Georgia; niece, Janice King Fisher (Darrell) and their children, Lauren Leigh McKenzie, William Dillon Morgan and Charlene Lynda Morgan of Omaha, Nebraska; and nephew, Michael Vinson King (Meredith) and their children, Gracie Lynn King and Marcie Elaine King of Norcross, Georgia.

A memorial service for Jane will be held Monday, March 12 at 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 207 North Greenwood St., LaGrange, Georgia 30240. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Jane may do so to the Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion, or LaGrange Personal Aid Association: Charles C. Maddox Veteran’s Assistance Program, 416 Pierce Street, LaGrange.
