Mrs. Velma Waldrop

Mrs. Velma Waldrop, 89, of LaGrange, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at WellStar West Georgia Hospice.

Mrs. Waldrop was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wife of 69 years and found great joy in caring for all.  She was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Randolph County, Alabama, daughter of the late Acie C. May and Willie Abbott May.  Mrs. Waldrop was employed with Duracell Manufacturing before retiring. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Waldrop, five sisters, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Pat Waldrop.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Waldrop; children, Wayne Waldrop, Diane (Larry) Womack, Gary (Tracy) Waldrop and Barbara Price; grandchildren, Courtney (Shawn) Allen, Monica Emory, Whitney (Wes) Adcock, Cassidy (Jonathon) Fomby, Katie (Shane) Tanner, Andrew Womack and Lori (Craig) Forster; great grandchildren, Ty, Skylar and Ansley Allen, Ryan and Jacob Aaron, Jackson Emory, Aydan, Avaleigh and Aberdeen Adcock, Colton and Levi Fomby and Clint and Luke Tanner; sister, Virginia (Ralph) Windsor; sisters-in-law, Orlene Boyd, Annie Waldrop and Merle Waldrop; brother-in-law, Rural (Pearl) Waldrop; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018, in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Rayford Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The gathering of family and friends will be on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
