After a week off, the Callaway High baseball team will resume its quest for a second consecutive Region 5-AA championship this week.

Callaway (12-4 overall) is 3-0 in the region after taking three games from Temple two weeks ago.

Callaway was originally supposed to play last week, but the three games were cancelled when Spencer decided not to play a region schedule this season.

Callaway will get back at it this week with three games against Lamar County.

Callaway will host a single game today at 5:30 p.m., and the two teams will play a doubleheader at Lamar County on Friday.

After this week, Callaway will reach the midpoint of the region schedule.

Lamar County (8-7 overall) is 1-5 in the region after losing three games to Heard County last week.

Also this week, the LaGrange and Troup baseball teams will look to improve on their position in Region 5-AAAA.

LaGrange will reach the halfway points of its region schedule with a game at Chapel Hill today, and it will be on the road again on Thursday against Cedartown.

LaGrange is in third place in the region with a 3-2 record, and it has put itself in position to challenge for one of the region’s four playoff spots.

Troup, which fell to 4-1 in the region with Friday’s loss to Cartersville, has three region games on tap this week.

First up is today’s game at Sandy Creek, and Troup will visit Chapel Hill on Thursday before hosting Cedartown on Friday.

Troup, which has won back-to-back region championships, is in second place.

In GISA baseball, LaGrange Academy will look to improve on its 1-0 record in Region 1-AA when it visits rival Flint River Academy today. LaGrange Academy finishes the week with a home game against The Cottage School on Thursday.
