Sweetland concert series starting off right

Sweetland’s 2018 Summer Concert Series began Friday when Morris Day and the Time and the Gap Experience performed at the amphitheater.

Amphitheatre director Keyal Loveland said Friday that  1,700 tickets were sold for the concert.

The amphitheater was filled with fans who wanted to experience the 1980s.  Not even the small burst of rain could send the crowd home.

Summer is coming and children will be out of school soon, meaning families will be looking for more events to do together.

Gladys Knight, Martina McBride and Pat Benatar will headline concerts later this summer.

Sweetland is an asset for LaGrange. It’s family friendly and the concerts series always features a variety of genres for everyone.

People come from other cities to LaGrange to experience these events.

In the past, Sweetland has held summer movie nights, has held festivals and hosted a chili cook off.

It even had the outdoor ice rink this year, which brought in many people.

Previous summer concert series have featured big names such as The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson and Vince Gill. Concerts at Sweetland have gone sold out and attract more traffic to LaGrange.

Gladys Knight will be the next concert on April 20.

We will have more on Friday’s concert in our Monday edition, and, like everyone else, we’re excited for the rest of the summer at Sweetland.
