The Troup Tigers finished a busy week with a 6-3 loss to Mount Paran Christian on Friday.

It was Troup’s third game in three days.

Troup won on Wednesday and Thursday against Harris County and Shaw, and it had a 3-1 lead heading into the fifth inning against Mount Paran.

Mount Paran surged ahead with three runs in the top of the fifth inning, and it capped the scoring with two runs in the sixth.

Troup (17-6 overall) returns to Region 5-AAAA play next week, and it will put its 7-1 region record on the line at LaGrange on Tuesday.

Garrett Casey got the start Troup on Friday, and he was effective.

The left-hander threw four innings and gave up one run on two hits with four strikeouts, and he was pulled after throwing 88 pitches.

Colton Webb, Jackson Knox and Ryan Bliss each pitched an inning to finish it.

Of those three pitchers, Bliss was the most effective with a scoreless seventh inning.

Trailing 1-0, Troup scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Casey walked leading off, and Bridwell was hit by a pitch to put men on first and second.

The Tigers then showed off their bunting prowess to put their runs on the board.

Garner got a bunt down and reached first on an error, and the Tigers had the bases loaded.

Next up was Luke Purnell, and he got a bunt down as well, and the Tigers managed to scored two runs on the play.

Ryan Key, who was courtesy running for Casey, came home with the first run, and Bridwell never slowed down coming from second and scored as well to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Troup wasn’t done.

Robinson put a bunt down for a base hit, and Garner scored to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.

Troup was held scoreless the rest of the way, though, and Mount Paran rallied for the win.
