LaGrange rallies to beat Sandy Creek

TYRONE – The LaGrange Grangers outlasted Sandy Creek 5-4 on Tuesday to get the region road win.

LaGrange improved to 7-4 in Region 5-AAAA, and it will complete its region schedule with a home game against Chapel Hill on Thursday.

LaGrange has locked up the number three spot in the region.In Tuesday’s game, Sandy Creek led 3-0 through three innings, and LaGrange scored three runs in the top of the fourth to tie it before taking the lead with two runs in the fifth inning.

Cole Freeman had a double and two RBIs for LaGrange, Charles Crawford and Trent Bailey both had a hit and an RBI, and Cole Crawford had a hit.

Freeman was LaGrange’s starting pitcher, and he worked the first three innings, and Brant Williams threw the next 2 2/3 innings.

Walton Lanier finished things off with 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
