Mr. Ronald Dean Furgerson

Mr. Ronald Dean Furgerson, age 67, of LaGrange, passed away on April 22, 2018, at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice.
Mr. Furgerson was born on Dec. 31, 1950, in LaGrange to Otis O’dean Furgerson and Annie (Ann) Holloway Furgerson. His father preceded him in death.
He was a 1969 graduate of Troup County High School and a 1973 graduate of LaGrange College where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He was an avid Alabama football fan and loved to play softball. He was awarded most valuable player in the World Softball Series in Oklahoma City in 1980. Mr. Furgerson was an educator for most of his life having taught at West Side Girls Junior High School, Gardner Newman Middle School and retiring as a principal with the Heard County School System.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, James Furgerson; nephew, J.R. Furgerson (Kelly); two special great nieces, Madison Furgerson and Gabrielle Furgerson; special friend, Lisa Bandy; numerous aunts, uncles, extended family and friends as well as his canine companion, Jerri Leigh. Funeral services will be held on April 24, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with Pastor Ray Fuson officiating. Interment will follow at the Shadowlawn Cemetery.
