Local sports fans will have plenty to choose from on Thursday.

There will be seven total state-tournament games that day featuring soccer and baseball teams from Callaway, LaGrange and Troup.

There is also a game scheduled for Friday involving Callaway’s boys’ soccer teams, and the baseball teams could play that day as well if their playoff series go the full three games.

The game times for the playoff openers involving those teams were finalized on Monday.

On the soccer field, both LaGrange High teams will host playoff games on Thursday.

The LaGrange girls’ team will host Gilmer County at 4 p.m., and the LaGrange boys’ team will play Lafayette High at 6 p.m.

The winner of those games will likely play Marist in the second round of the playoffs.

Also on Thursday, Callaway’s girls’ soccer team will play South Atlanta at 6 p.m. in the Class AA state playoffs.

The baseball state playoffs also get started on Thursday, and Callaway, LaGrange and Troup will all be in action.

Callaway and Troup will be at home, and LaGrange is on the road.

Troup’s first-round opponent will be Ridgeland, and those teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m.

If needed, a third and deciding game would be Friday at 2 p.m.

If Troup beats Ridgeland, it would be headed for a showdown with top-ranked Blessed Trinity in the second round.

Callaway opens against B.E.S.T. Academy, and they’ll play a doubleheader on Thursday starting at 4 p.m.

LaGrange will visit Northwest Whitfield for its playoff opener, and they’ll play a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m.

If needed, the third game would be Friday at 4:30 p.m.

LaGrange made it all the way to the state semifinals a year ago.

On Friday, the only game that will be definitely be played is a Class AA soccer showdown between Callaway and Douglass.

Callaway, which is looking for its first-ever state-playoff win, will host the game at 7 p.m.
