Looking at LaGrange, Troup Co.’s growth

For the last few months, The LaGrange Daily News has been working on its 2018 Progress edition.
Each year, the newspaper selects a theme for Progress, one of our biggest special sections of the year.
This year’s theme was development, which wasn’t difficult to choose, given all of the growth going on around the community. The 36-page special section includes stories on industry leaders such as Kia, Jindal Films and Duracell, but will also feature progress in the school system with stories on the new Clearview Elementary School and THINC College and Career Academy.
A story is included on The Callaway Foundation, and all the ways the foundation has helped the community move forward over the years. Around a dozen years ago, the Callaway Foundation had a plan developed for downtown, and much of that has come to fruition.
We also featured a story on the craft brewery craze, which has seen Troup County add three breweries in the last year. Chattabrewchee, Wild Leap and Beacon Brewing are all welcoming to the recent growth and the addition of competition.
We also talked to Scott Malone and Kelley Bush from the Development Authority of LaGrange, who are driving new industry to our community. Together, they are telling LaGrange’s story around the world. Based on the results, it’s clear that industry leaders are listening too.
There’s been so much growth in our county over the last few years, but in Progress we were able to dig deeper and write more in-depth stories about each of the organizations featured.
We hope you’ll enjoy a deeper look at local growth Saturday.
