Callaway’s girls’ soccer team dropped an overtime heart-breaker to Model on Tuesday in the second round of the Class AA state tournament.
After falling behind 3-2 in the second half, Callaway pulled even on a Kelly Carlisle goal, and it was deadlocked at the end of regulation.
Model scored a goal in the second five-minute overtime period, and it held on for the 4-3 win.
It was a 1-1 game at the half, with Cheney Eubanks scoring Callaway’s goal.
Eubanks scored again in the second half to give Callaway the lead, but Model responded with a pair of goals to go up 3-2.
Carlisle, a senior who has signed to play soccer at Point University, scored the tying goal to force overtime.
The boys’ teams from those two schools also met in a playoff game, and it was Model capturing the 4-0 victory.
