Mr. Hugh Orrin Sprayberry

Mr. Hugh Orrin Sprayberry, 86, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at WellStar West Georgia Hospice.
Mr. Sprayberry was born April 10, 1932, in Talladega County, Alabama, to the late James Ethridge Sprayberry and Ruth Bowen Sprayberry. He was an eagle scout along with his brothers, and was a boy scout leader for many years in LaGrange. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and LaGrange College, and he earned master’s degrees at Auburn University (School Administration) and the University of Georgia (psychology). Mr. Sprayberry served in the U.S. Army and served in the Army National Guard, Company C, 560th Engineering Brigade with more than 37 years served.
Mr. Sprayberry was a member of Trinity On The Hill United Methodist Church.
He taught at LaGrange High School and Hill Street Junior High School before entering a career in vocational rehabilitation. With vocational rehabilitation, he served in several capacities including counselor for rehabilitation services for the Georgia Department of Human Resources, supervisor of the vocational evaluation unit for Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation, and deputy director of Georgia Rehabilitation Center at Warm Springs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janis English Sprayberry; son, Lloyd O. Sprayberry; brother, Denny L. Sprayberry and sister-in-law, Catherine Sprayberry.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Dunlap Sprayberry; daughter, Connie Sprayberry (David) Mitchum; granddaughter, Anna Lee Mitchum (Mathew) Mikell; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Mikell; granddaughter, Kate Mitchum; brother, the Rev. Rance (Dot) Sprayberry; several cousins, nieces and nephews; stepsons, Lee (Lisa) Dunlap, Bryan Dunlap and Shannon (Jane) Dunlap.
The gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. And the celebration of life service will began at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kathleen Mattox officiating and graveside will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church.
