Mr. Lawrence Woodard

Mr. Lawrence Woodard, age 88, of LaGrange, passed away on May 9, 2018, at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice. Mr. Woodard was born on September 19, 1929, in Randolph County, Alabama to the late E.T. Woodard and Clarabell Greene Woodard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers in law, Hollis S. Beam and Herschel E. Cash.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret Beam Woodard; children, Vickie Gillespie and her husband Don of Houston, Texas and Mark Woodard of LaGrange; grandchildren, Kellie Moseley of North Richmond Hills, Texas, Jessica Moseley of Austin, Texas and Lauren Moseley and her fiancée Brian Gillespie of Houston, Texas; great grandchild, Geoffrey Gillespie; sister-in-law, Helen Cash; several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Mr. Woodard graduated from LaGrange High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served aboard the Naval Destroyer U.S.S. Boyd. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service. He loved sports and was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Georgia Tech.
Mr. Woodard was a member of Dunson Baptist Church for 72 years, having served as a deacon for over 50 years and was a member of the choir. He was blessed with many friends and was loved by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at the Dunson Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Cole officiating. Entombment will follow at the Shadowlawn Mausoleum.
Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home.
