Registration deadline nears for recipe contest, Meriwether Miles

May 18 is the postmark deadline to enter the 2018 Peaches in the Pines festival recipe contest, and May 19 is the sign-up deadline to get a Meriwether Miles bicycle ride t-shirt.
Both events are being held in conjunction with the fourth annual Peaches in the Pines arts, crafts and music festival on June 9 at Lake Meriwether near Woodbury. The festival is under the wing of Meriwether County Chamber of Commerce.
For the recipe contest, there are both adult and youth divisions. Recipes can be for sweet or savory dishes. Prizes are valued at $50 for first, $25 for second and $10 for third.
While advanced registration is required, the recipe contest judging will take place 11 a.m. June 9 during the Peaches in the Pines festival at Lake Meriwether. Awards will be presented at noon at the pavilion on the festival grounds beside Lake Meriwether.

The Meriwether Miles bike ride will have a mass start at 9 a.m. June 9 at Lake Meriwether, 728 Lake Meriwether Road in Woodbury, Georgia, before the opening of the Peaches in the Pines festival. Day-of registration is 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., but those registering after May 19 will not receive a t-shirt.
The 2018 Meriwether Miles bike ride offers three courses with a variety of terrain through the rural roads of south Meriwether County in 10-mile, 44-mile and 64-mile options. The century route includes an almost-12-mile coast back toward Warm Springs and on into the Lake Meriwether area. Organization “Honoring Our Veterans” will receive a portion of the Meriwether Miles event proceeds.
To receive a t-shirt, the $30 entry fee and application indicating name, age, address, phone, email address, the requested route and t-shirt size must be postmarked by May 19.
Online registration and payment for Meriwether Miles is available at the Meriwether County Chamber of Commerce website. The cost on event day is $25, but no shirt is provided.

The fourth annual Peaches in the Pines festival will run 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 9 at beautiful Lake Meriwether in Woodbury, Georgia. There will be food, fun and entertainment. Live music with several groups will feature The Breakdowns, a Tom Petty tribute band. Admission is $3 per person. Children under 10 get in free.
