The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce celebrated Stone Martin Builders’ recent decision to build homes in the community by cutting a ribbon Thursday in the Bryant Lake subdivision. The ceremony took place at a home constructed by Stone Martin.
The subdivision was initially planned in 2007 and has recently begun to make progress again after setbacks caused by the economic downturn in 2008. Stone Martin appears to be part of these steps forward due to its reputation for quality work.
“I think we are going to have a lot of people wanting to be in Bryant Lake now because Stone Martin is here,” said Kendall Butler, owner of F.L.I. Properties. “We are really excited about them being here, and LaGrange is the start of their entrance into Georgia.”
Representatives from the company said they were excited to do business in the area.
“We’re just excited. This is our first step into Georgia through LaGrange,” said Chris Rogers of Stone Martin Builders.
On Thursday, the builder had nine homes under contract and was preparing to build six more houses in Bryant Lake. The homes will have popular features like tankless water heaters and wood flooring, which the realtors hope will attract homebuyers considering moving to the area.
“We’ve had great reviews of all of their products,” Butler said. “They are building four-sided brick homes ranging anywhere from 2,000 square feet up to about 3,000 square feet, so this home that we are in right now is priced at $214,299.”
According to Butler, Stone Martin Builders constructs more than 400 homes a year in Alabama.
Other local officials also thanked the builder for deciding to work in LaGrange and joining the chamber of commerce.
“I am so glad to see you in our community,” said Deedee Williams, a diplomat from the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce. “Thank you for your investment in Troup County and the LaGrange area. We look forward to much success and cooperation from your agency.”
Butler’s work in attracting the builder and moving the subdivision forward was also recognized.
“On behalf of the mayor and the city council, Kendall, we appreciate what you are doing for our community,” LaGrange City Council Member Mark Mitchell said. “It is apparent just by looking around that y’all have been very busy, and we hope that continues.”
