From Staff Reports

After the completion of the spring 2018 season, The Troup Titans Soccer Club will be joining AFC Lightning Soccer Club and rebranding itself as AFC Lightning Troup. The purpose of the merger is to provide players from both clubs with additional opportunities to develop their skills.

Operating as one organization, the Titans and Lightning clubs will begin scheduling youth academy programs together.

AFC Lightning Troup teams will continue training at the Troup County Soccer Complex while AFC Lightning DA, Gold, Red, Black, and White teams will remain at McCurry Park or PAC. AFC Lightning Troup players may take advantage of the clubs’ “open training policy” and train with the AFC Lightning team in Fayette County for more opportunities as long as those players continue to meet their own team’s practice requirements.

AFC Lightning Troup players will also be able to train at the Elite Performance Institute (EPI) in Peachtree City, effective fall 2018.

“We’re excited and proud to join forces with the players, coaches, and families currently playing with the Troup Titans,” said AFC Lightning Executive Director Steve

Muccillo. “We’re eager to start working together in the U9 through U12 groups as soon as possible and believe our staff will be able to create more developmental opportunities for all players in both programs.

Troup’s DOC, Shane Pulliam, is a knowledgeable and successful coach, and we look forward to sharing ideas with him and his staff for the benefit of soccer players in the South Metro Atlanta and LaGrange areas”.

Try-outs for the club will be held at the Troup County Soccer Complex and dates are based on the birth year of the player. Try-outs for those who were born in years 2006-2010 will come on May 28 and 30. Try-outs for those who were born in the years 2000-2005 will come on June 4 and 6.

An informational meeting will be held on the Monday night of each try-out with pricing information, practice and game information, etc.  Try outs are open to the public and there is no charge. For more information, please email Anna Knight at or visit the website at
