New program good for everyone

In today’s edition of The LaGrange Daily News, we wrote about the LaGrange Police Department’s new car care program, which will save motorists quite a bit of money this year.

Under the new program, officers will give coupons, instead of tickets, when they pull over a vehicle with a tail light or headlight that isn’t working. Officers typically gave warnings for first-time infractions anyways, but now they’ll also be offering drivers a way to quickly get the part they need at a discounted rate.

Almost every parts store in LaGrange is taking part, and many drivers have already stopped by with their coupons. The coupons give them 10 percent off their purchases, allowing them to save a few bucks.

It also benefits the parts stores, which are likely to see more business. The coupon includes a list of each store participating and those stores also have a poster in their window.

Nobody likes to get a ticket, especially for a light being out on your vehicle. Of course, it’s really hard to know if a brake light or tail light is out, unless someone riding behind your car happens to notice it.

We appreciate this new program and plan to look back at it at an appropriate time to see how many motorists are taking advantage of it.
