Truck crashes on Mooty Bridge Road, leading to search

Many passersby saw a large police presence on Mooty Bridge Road Sunday morning, as officers tried to piece together information from a wreck the night before.

Officers determined that a truck had wrecked into a telephone pole and then run into the wood line, according to Lt. Dale Strickland with the LaGrange Police Department. However, there was no one on the scene.

“There was no evidence of anyone injured significantly,” Strickland said.

Once officers determined who the vehicle belonged to, they contacted family members, who had not heard from the driver at that time. Strickland said the LPD used K9 officers to search the area, but did not find anyone.

“We wanted to make sure there was not some extenuating circumstance where he might be injured in the woods,” Strickland said.

Strickland said the LPD has since heard that the driver is OK, but he has not yet been located by police. The subject could face charges for leaving the scene of an accident.
