The importance of going to summer camp

This week we’ve written about several different camps around Troup County. Those include the Winshape Camp, Camp Viola and the Jeff Geeter soccer camp. Last week, we wrote about the LaGrange Police and Fire Department camp, which allowed students to get to know the law enforcement officers who patrol our streets.
There are numerous other camps going on this summer in LaGrange, providing a special experience for area youth and giving them something to do during the summer.
Camps not only keep children active, but they also give them a chance to make a longtime friend. Camp counselors and volunteers teach life lessons that are often never forgotten. For some reason, they always seem to mean more when children hear it from someone other than their parents.
Camps teach children to work together through various teamwork activities and help them develop social skills.
We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to volunteer at one of these camps.
Each person is making a difference in the life of a child.
