The coaches from Point University led a volleyball camp at LaGrange High last week.
LaGrange’s players got an opportunity to get some pointers and tips from Point’s coaches, as well as three of its players.
Leading the camp was Amanda Jones, who is preparing for her fourth season as Point’s head coach.
In 2017, Jones led Point to a 19-9 record, setting a program record for wins in a season.
More than 30 members of LaGrange’s team participated in the six-hour camp, and LaGrange head coach Angie Newton said Point’s players and coaches “did an awesome job.”
LaGrange is looking to build on its strong finish from a year ago when it knocked off Troup in the area tournament to qualify for the state playoffs.
After the Georgia High School Association-mandated dead week, LaGrange’s volleyball team will continue its summer workouts next week.
Official preseason practice starts on Aug. 1, and teams can begin playing games on Aug. 4.
LaGrange will once again be playing in Area 5-AAAA along with Troup, Cartersville, Cedartown, Central-Carroll, Chapel Hill and Sandy Creek.
The top four finishers in the area tournament will qualify for state.
