LDN wins multiple awards in Georgia APME awards contest

The LaGrange Daily News won three awards in the Georgia Associated Press Media Editors awards, which were announced at the GPME’s annual awards banquet in Atlanta on June 23.
The LDN won the following awards:
Second place for “Best deadline reporting” for Alicia B. Hill’s story on the Troup County Commission’s decision to do away with use of the Troup County Correctional Institute and the work release program.
Third place for “best spot news photo” for Daniel Evans’ photo of the Troup County Fire Department battling a house fire.
Third place for “best feature photo” for Daniel Evans’ photo of a 102-year-old veteran seeing his face on the box of Raisin Bran cereal for his birthday.
The LaGrange Daily News competed in Newspaper Division I.
The LDN’s editorial staff previously won 11 awards in the Georgia Press Association’s “Better Newspaper Contest.” All content for both contests was from 2017.
