This weekend will be full of fun for the whole family with several free or low-cost events throughout the community.

The third annual West Point Lake Dragon Boat Race will kick off the weekend fun at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at Pyne Road Park. The event benefits Harmony House Domestic Violence Shelter in LaGrange, which provides emergency shelter, security, crisis-intervention, education and advocacy for adults and children who are victims of domestic violence.

“This event is an incredible way to not only raise money for a wonderful cause, but also to bring the community together to have fun and showcase the beautiful West Point Lake,” said former Harmony House Board President Ginger Zachry.

This year 30 teams of 20 paddlers are expected to participate in the event. There will also be food trucks and other vendors on site. The event is free to the public. For more information, visit to Wpldragonboatrace.com.

The Market on Main will also return to downtown LaGrange on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Flagpole Park, across from Lafayette Square.

Later that day, parents of school age children will have a great opportunity to get ready for the upcoming school year with the Bringing the Ages Together Festival.

The free family festival will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oliver Greene Multipurpose Center at 115 East Cannon Street. The event will feature free food, health screenings and a raffle for a one night stay for a family of six at Great Wolf Lodge. A variety of local groups — including the Jungle Bus, The First Tee golf and Wellcare — will also be on hand to answer questions during the event.

Finally, Diane Durrett will close out the night with a performance at Pure Life Studios at 206 Clark Street featuring Junebug on percussion. Durrett has sung with Sting, The Indigo Girls, Gregg Allman, Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones) and Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow). Durrett has opened shows for Tina Turner, KoKo Taylor, Faith Hill, Little Feat, Delbert McClinton and Derek Trucks. Tickets cost $23.50.
