Another great dragon boat race

The final totals weren’t in yet, but all you had to do was look at the crowd at Saturday’s West Point Dragon Boat Race to see that the event was successful.

The annual event is a fundraiser for Harmony House, a domestic violence shelter, and has grown each year. The first year, 20 teams took part, and last year there were 28. This year the race hit a new high with 30 teams, and many were new.

In just a handful of years, the race is already one of the most unique events in LaGrange. Businesses love it for its team-building, all while raising money for a great cause.

The competitiors love it because it’s a fun day on the lake in a community setting.

If there’s enough boats to go around, we’d love to see this event continue to grow in future years.

And even if the race field eventually hits a cap, there are many people that enjoy hanging out at the lake. We’re sure Harmony House would love to have even more companies and individuals take part.

We thank everyone who plays a part in organizing it each year.
