A seven-on-seven soccer league has been held on Tuesdays throughout the summer at Callaway’s soccer complex, and this will be the final night of play.

The league will conclude with a tournament beginning at 6 p.m., with the championship games in the two divisions set for 9:45 p.m.

Teams from Callaway, LaGrange, Troup, East Coweta and Heritage School have participated in the league, which began on June 12.

One of the teams that has been competing in the league all summer will be unable to play today.

Members of LaGrange’s girls’ team are attending a soccer camp at Clemson University, so they won’t be at Callaway tonight.

The camp, which is led by Clemson women’s head coach Eddie Radwanski, began on Sunday and goes through Wednesday.

“That’s a world-class soccer program up there. It’s the real deal,” said LaGrange coach Andy Fritchley said. “We want them to feel challenged.”

Fritchley said the seven-on-seven league has been a valuable and enjoyable experience for his team.

“It’s fun,” Fritchley said. “We use it kind of like to experiment, to try different people at different places, different keepers.”

Teams will be divided into two separate division for today’s tournament at Callaway.

On one side it will be the junior-varsity boys’ teams and the varsity girls’ teams.

In the other division it’ll be the varsity boys’ teams competing for the title.

There will two games today at 6 p.m., and two more at 6:45 p.m.

At 6 p.m., the boys’ teams

from Troup and Heritage will play, while the junior-varsity boys’ teams from Callaway and  Troup will meet.

At 6:45 p.m., the Callaway and Troup girls’ teams will play, as will the Callaway and East Coweta boys’ teams.

There will be more games at 8:15 p.m. and 9 p.m., leading up to the championship games at 9:45 p.m.
