Troup snares first win

Troup’s softball team overwhelmed Woodward Academy 21-6 on Monday, giving Kayla Yeargin her first win as the head coach.

Senior Madison McCartney had a monster day for Troup with three doubles and six RBIs.

Fellow senior Kayla Lane got it done from the leadoff position with two hits and two RBIs, and she scored three runs.

Skye Loftin, who hit a home run against LaGrange on Saturday, had two doubles, two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Hadleigh Livingston and Casey Sani each had a hit and two RBIs, and Olivia McInvale and Morgan Watkins each had a hit with an RBI.

Avery Pearson and Lexi Parker each had a hit, Tashuana Askew drove in a run, and Emilee Johnson scored two runs.

Mackenzie Miller got the complete-game victory, and she held Woodward Academy to four hits, and only one of the runs she allowed was earned.

Troup opens its Region 5-AAAA schedule on Thursday with a road game against Chapel Hill.
