Mrs. Mamie Kate Cameron

Mamie Kate Cameron, born March 19, 1930, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018 at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.  

She was the daughter of the late Willie Kate Cameron.  She attended East Depot High School. Mamie was a devoted member of St. Paul Baptist Church where she served on the mother board, pastor’s support and Sunday school. Mrs. Cameron also served as a board member with the housing authority commissioner. She held employment with the Hunter Family and 50 years plus with Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Chambers. Mamie was a sweet, lovable and caring person. She was kind to everyone. 

Fond memories will be cherished by her daughter, Nellie Stargell (Floyd); two grandsons, Broderick (Elizabeth) Stargell and Deshun (Kristie) Stargell; five great grandchildren, Hakeem, Hassan Haliah, Kamryn and Kayleigh Stargell; sister, Genie Jones; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Cameron; her god-daughter and friend, Juanita Harrell; and special friends, Kathryn Ransom and Aurelia Easter. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry Kelley Sr., Grady Lamar Kelley and Clarence Cameron Sr. 

Funeral services for Mamie Kate Cameron will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church on Fannin Street. The Rev. Clarence Sams will officiate with burial at Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter at 718 Miami Street.
