Man dies in apartment fire on North Lewis Street

A man died in an apartment fire on North Lewis Street Saturday morning, according to press releases from the LaGrange Fire Department and LaGrange Police Department.

The man has been identified as Antivolis Coverson. Coverson was transported to West Georgia Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased, according to the LPD press release.

The fire department responded to a reported structure fire at 5:17 a.m. at 201 North Lewis Street. Another tenant living in the apartment building called 911 after smelling smoke in the apartment, according to the LFD press release.

The LFD arrived at the scene at 5:23 a.m. and found heavy smoke in apartment 1. Coverson was located in a bedroom.
