Troup’s cross-country team opened its season by competing in the Zack Wansley Cross Country Clash on Saturday in Douglas County.

On the boys’ side, Christian Gay paced the Tigers with a time of 18 minutes, 59 seconds, which was good enough for 33rd place.

Lawson Lynd (21:20) was next for Troup, and he was followed by Wesley Bartlett (22:14), Zach Taylor (24:01), Cade Parnell (25:41) and Joseph Harrington.

For the girls’ team, Charley Harry (25:38) led the way with a 56th-place finish, and she was followed by Natalie Figiel (26:48), Catherine Leveritt (26:57), Amanda McCarthy (27:10), Bailey Adams (36:03), Anna Barintine (36:25) and Brittany Long (50:35).

Troup will continue its season on Saturday in the Bob Blastow Early Bird race in Whitesburg.
