They’re ready for their first road trip.

The Lafayette Christian School Cougars, after beating Central Fellowship Christian 37-32 last week in their season opener, will be in Valdosta today to play Georgia Christian School.

It will be a region game for the Cougars, so a win would aid them in their quest to earn a spot in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association 11-man state playoffs.

A victory would move the Cougars to 2-0 in Region 1-A.

In last week’s game, Lafayette Christian built a big lead before hanging on late to get the home win.

Lafayette Christin had a 37-12 lead in the third quarter, and it withstood a furious rally by Central Fellowship.

“We feel we beat a pretty talented ball club,” Lafayette Christian head coach Nate Shaw said. “It’s just good to get the year off with a win.”

Senior quarterback Landon Whitley sparked the Cougars with four total touchdowns, two on the ground, and two in the air.

Whitley threw a pair of touchdown passes to Mitch Crandall, and he had two scoring runs.

Lafayette Christian also got a 42-yard touchdown run from Amani Jenkins.
