It wasn’t the start they were hoping for.

Facing a formidable Central-Carroll team in a Region 5-AAAA softball showdown on Tuesday, the Troup Lady Tigers fell behind 5-0 after the first inning, and they lost 11-1.

Troup (5-10 overall) has dropped its past four region games to fall to 2-4, while Central (9-3 overall) is 3-1 in the region.

Troup was limited to three hits against Central-Carroll, and one of those was an RBI single by Olivia McInvale in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Avery Pearson had a single and she scored Troup’s lone run, and Madison McCartney had a hit.

Pearson pitched a complete game for Troup, and only three of the 11 runs she allowed were earned.

Hayley Fehring had two hits including a home run for Central, and Maggie Harris got the complete-game win.

Troup will host Heard County in a non-region game today.
