Jamison new operations manager at West Point Lake

MOBILE, Alabama — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, Operations Division, has selected Jay L. Jamison as the West Point Project Operations Manager.

The position was formely held by Stephen F. Logan, until retiring in January 2018. 

Jay Jamison previously served as the assistant operations manager, at the West Point Project since December 2016. 

Prior to working within the operations division, Jamison served as the supervisory natural resources specialist since November 2011. 

In that capacity he led the park rangers/natural resource specialists team in effectively planning, developing, implementing and managing major programs: natural resources management (fish and wildlife habitat improvement, prescribed burning, endangered species preservation), shoreline management, forest management, real estate leases, boundary line maintenance and surveillance, and encroachment resolution.

Prior to coming to the Mobile District, Jamison served as a park ranger/natural resources specialist with the Savannah District at Hartwell, Richard B. Russell, and J. Strom Thurmond Projects located in the Savannah River Basin. 

Jamison’s experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers includes over 17 years of management in various facets of multipurpose water resources projects within the South Atlantic Division.

Jamison is a graduate of Clemson University with a bachelor of science in parks, recreation, and tourism management with a minor in forest resource management. 

He married Lauren R. Ballington, originally from South Carolina, and they reside in LaGrange. They have three children, Georgia (11), Ella (7), and Eli (5). Hunting and fishing are his passion, and he enjoys spending time with family and friends.
