Chattahoochee Riverkeeper will hold a West Point Lake history cruise on Friday, Sept. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Come aboard the Miss Sally floating classroom for a peek into the past. The Chattahoochee River has long been a center of life, commerce and transportation in the area.

Shannon Gavin Johnson, the director of Troup County Archives, will share facts and tidbits about the history of the lake. Former Georgia Representative Jeff Brown and a CRK guide will talk about how the water quality in West Point Lake has much improved during the past 25 years — hear about politics at its best.

The tour will start and end at Pyne Road Park. The cost is $30 and includes a light picnic dinner with specialty sandwiches, chips and veggie tray catered by 505 Eats. Anyone interested can register online by visiting Chattahoochee.org. Preregistration is required.
