The Georgia/Alabama Antique Automobile Club of America will host the 37th annual car show at the LaGrange Mall on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
People attend from all around to see the vintage cars featured at the event. In the past, there have even been limousines, fire trucks, motorcycles and tractors on display.
There will also be raffles, door prizes, a money tree and a live auction.
“It’s free to spectators,” said Charles Norris, an organizer of the show. “Anybody who wants to come and look, they can come.”
Norris also explained how the car show began.
“It first started on the square in downtown LaGrange, but then moved out to the mall. For many years, they had the car show inside the mall, and it was three days long,” Norris said.
“That’s changed over the years. They won’t allow automobiles inside the mall, obviously.”
Though the show has now evolved into a one-day event, it still has great success. Last year, there were 130 business sponsors, and $13,000 was given to charity.
For anyone interested in having an automobile displayed, the cost for pre-registering is $15. Registration on the day of the show costs $20.
The show participants are from LaGrange and surrounding areas. Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Jude’s Hospital, Ark Refuge and Discovery Cottage
