Mr. Gary Sheets, 71, son of H.U. and Irene Sheets went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lamar.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane Foster Sheets; a son, Christopher Sheets (Tracey); a daughter, Vikki Sheets Stringham and her husband, the Rev. Kevin Stringham; two precious granddaughters, Kate and Emily Stringham; three sisters-in-law, Betty Jo Foster Lane, Lynda Foster Walker and DeWanda Whitehead Sheets; a beloved niece, Margaret Murphy Houston; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.

Gary was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square where he spent 18 years serving the congregation as building superintendent. In retirement, he volunteered with FBC Meals on Wheels Ministry. He was a member of the LaGrange Amateur Radio Club and a member of Masonic Lodge #93 in Hogansville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
