It’s homecoming night for the Lafayette Christian School Cougars, who will look to extend their winning streak to three with a win over Sherwood Christian on Friday.
After dropping back-to-back games to fall to 2-2, Lafayette Christian has bounced back with wins over Covenant Academy and Central Christian.
In last week’s game, Lafayette Christian beat rival Central Christian 42-26 in Sharpsburg.
The Cougars scored 40 or more points for the third time this season, with senior quarterback Landon Whitley leading the way.
Whitley, who has been starting since he was a freshman, had a touchdown run, and he also threw a scoring pass to Mitch Crandall.
Ben Dixon had two touchdown runs, and Jacob Karvales also had a scoring run.
Sherwood Christian lost its first two games, and it then won two in a row before losing to Holy Ground Baptist Academy last week.
Lafayette Christian is off next week, and it will host Calvary Christian on Oct. 12.
Lafayette Christian’s final two regular-season games are against region opponents.
Lafayette Christian, which is 2-0 in region play, visits Fullington Academy on Oct. 19 before hosting Hancock Academy on Nov. 2.
If the Cougars finished first or second in the four-team region, they’ll qualify for the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association 11-man state playoffs.
This is Lafayette Christian’s first season as an 11-man program.
