LaGrange High’s softball team was supposed to play its regular-season finale on Thursday, but Mother Nature had other plans.

The game was rained out, and if the weather cooperates, LaGrange and Central-Carroll will try again today, with first pitch set for 5:30 p.m. at Granger Park.

LaGrange (17-7 overall) brings an 8-3 Region 5-AAAA record into today’s game, while Central-Carroll is 9-1 in the region.

Even if LaGrange beats Central-Carroll, it will likely finish third in the region, meaning it would host sixth-seeded Troup next week in a best-of-three playoff series.

LaGrange and Troup would play a doubleheader at Granger Park on Monday beginning at 4:30 p.m., and if needed, a third and deciding game would be on Tuesday.

The winner of the series will advance to the state playoffs and will face either Cartersville or Cedartown in a game to determine the region’s third and fourth seeds.

The region’s top two seeds will meet in a best-of-three series for the region championship.

Troup (8-16 overall), which went 3-9 in region play to finish sixth, was supposed to play Callaway in its final regular-season game on Wednesday, but the game was rained out, and they were unable to make it up.

Callaway finished fourth in Region 5-AA, and it will face fifth-seeded Temple on Tuesday in a play-in game.

Callaway and Temple will play at 4:30 p.m. in Lamar County, with the winner advancing to the semifinals of the region tournament while securing a spot at state.
