The LaGrange Police Department is investigating armed robbery attempts that occurred on Mooty Bridge Road and Mill Creek Parkway around midnight Thursday in LaGrange.
Jaquavius Baker, 18, has been arrested and charged with armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault for his alleged role in the Mill Creek Parkway incident, according to Sgt. William Nelson with the LPD. The LPD continues to look for at least one more suspect and believes the two incidents might be related.
“The two [incidents] last night seem to be connected, based on descriptions given by the victims, as well as the way they are doing it,” Nelson said. “In addition to that, there are some similarities to some other cases.”
The first robbery occurred Wednesday evening around 11:45 p.m. on Mill Creek Parkway, near the intersection to Hogansville Road. A man was offered a ride by three unknown black males, according to a LPD press release. Once inside the vehicle, the front seat passenger and rear seat passenger both displayed firearms and demanded money from the victim.
Shortly after, around 12:15 a.m. Thursday, a second armed robbery occurred on Mooty Bridge Road.
According to a LPD press release, two people were approached by three black males Thursday morning in the 900 block of Mooty Bridge Road. Two black males exited a dark-colored Honda and pointed a firearm at the victims, demanding money, according to the press release.
The victims ran from the scene, and a shot was fired in their direction. Neither victim was injured in the incident.
Around 3:30 a.m., the LPD identified a possible suspect vehicle and located it on the 500 block of Hamilton Road. When officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the vehicle fled. According to the LPD, after a brief vehicle pursuit the suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Baker was a passenger in the vehicle, according to the press release.
