Troup High’s volleyball team is state-bound.
Troup finished third in the Region 5-AAAA tournament last week to earn a spot in the 32-team Class AAAA state playoffs.
Troup will be on the road against the number two team from Region 8-AAAA.
Troup had hoped to earn a home date in the state playoffs by finishing first or second in the region, but that quest was derailed with a hard-fought loss to Cartersville in the semifinals.
Cartersville won the first set 25-16, but Troup bounced back to win the second set in thrilling fashion, 27-25.
The third set was also tight, with Troup falling 25-23.
Central-Carroll, which beat Troup earlier in the tournament, lost to Cartersville in the region-championship match.
It was Cartersville’s third consecutive region championship, a streak that began with a win over Troup in 2016.
