Troup County started a children’s book drive on Monday, Oct. 15, as a part of their United Way donation campaign. The book drive will benefit The Jungle Bus in LaGrange, a bookmobile that serves children of Troup County.
The county is welcoming donations from the public and will be accepting new and gently used children’s books for infants, toddlers and children up to a third grade reading level. There will be a donation site located on the first floor of the government center across from the elevators at 100 Ridley Avenue, LaGrange, GA 30240.
The Jungle Bus, a joint effort program from the United Way Success by Six program and the Troup County School System Title One program, strives to increase early learning awareness in children by delivering books to neighborhoods across Troup County.
Its mission is to enable children to read on grade level by the end of the third grade.
To date, The Jungle Bus has donated approximately 3,500 books into the hands of children across Troup County.
Troup County’s book drive for The Jungle Bus will continue for one month and donations will be accepted until Nov. 15, 2018.
