Mr. George Gary Barnes

Mr. George Gary Barnes, 86, of LaGrange, Georgia, formerly of Saltillo, Mississippi, died Oct. 21, 2018, died at Hospice in Florence Hand Nursing Home of LaGrange, Georgia. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Ann Irwin Barnes of LaGrange, Georgia; one daughter, Deborah Barnes Ogle and her husband, Randy, of LaGrange, Georgia; his sister, Sharon Barnes Woods, of Southhaven, Mississippi; six grand-daughters and one grandson: Laura Solomon, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mary Carter and her husband Adam of Harpersville, Alabama, one grandson, Richard and his wife Erin, of Dallas, Texas, Maggie Pounds, and her husband Seth of Starkville, Mississippi, Anna Kate Nelson and her husband, Zack, of Booneville, Mississippi,  Ms. Bonnie Barnes, of Plantersville, Mississippi; Ms. Laura Ogle of Mobile, Alabama;  and nine great grand-children, Will, Josie, Eva Mae, Georgia, Jackson, George, Barnes, Ella Kate, and Anne Clayton. His services will be held in Saltillo at the First United Methodist Church, with Brother Tim Green, pastor of the church, officiating. Pall bearers will be Adam Carter, Richard Ogle, Rusty Barnes, James Barnes, Tim Phipps, and Richard Murff.  A special song that Mr. Barnes loved, “His Eye is on the Sparrow” will be sung by his son-in-law, Randy Ogle.  Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at Higginsfuneralhomes.com.  Higgins LaGrange Chapel in charge of local arrangements, (706) 884-7117.
