Shooting at West Point Motel

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred at the West Point Motel on Sunday night.
Deputies were dispatched to the motel, which is located at 7800 West Point Road, at 8:47 p.m. regarding a person shot, according to a TCSO press release. The victim is an adult male, and he had a wound on his right shoulder consistent with a bullet graze and wounds to the back of his head from a pistol hitting him several times, according to the press release.
The victim told police a male subject he is familiar with robbed him of some cash, struck him with the gun and fired the shot that struck him in the shoulder. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim was airlifted to a Columbus area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
