For the LaGrange boys’ team, junior Alex Bowie finished his season with a 29th-place finish with a time of 17 minutes, 50 seconds on the 3.1-mile course.

Next for LaGrange was Matthew Callaway (18:46), who was 62nd, and Miller Penn (18:56) was 76th.

Alex Martin (19:00) and Nathan Fritchley (19:01) finished within one second of each other, and Aaron Fritchley (20:51) and Terry Franklin (21:41) were LaGrange’s final two runners.

CHEERLEADING: The LaGrange and Troup High cheerleading teams will compete in the Class AAAA state sectional on Friday in Columbus.

The top eight finishers in the sectional will advance to the state finals on Saturday, which will also be in Columbus.

The top two finishers in each region earned an automatic invitation to the state finals.

Troup finished fourth in the Region 5-AAAA competition on Saturday, while LaGrange was sixth.

Troup is coming off back-to-back top-five finishes at the state meet, so it figures to be one of the teams to beat this weekend.

Troup has enjoyed a strong season and has won multiple competitions.

LaGrange is returning to the state sectional this year after not being able to compete a year ago.
