Inez Thrash Freeman

Inez Thrash Freeman, 94, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at WellStar West Georgia Hospice.

Mrs. Freeman was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Heard County, near Ephesus, Georgia, to the late George William Smith and Delsenia Cavender Smith. Inez grew up in Heard County and moved to LaGrange after her marriage to John Perry “Jake” Thrash in 1940. She retired from Milliken and Company after 30 years of service. After the death of her first husband in 1994, she married Benjamin H. Freeman, who also preceded her in death. She was a member of Harrisonville Baptist Church for many years and attended New Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn Thrash Butts; son-in-law, Wayne Butts; brothers, Truitt Smith and Truman Smith; step-sister, Sara Henson; granddaughter, Dathney Butts Martin; and great-great-granddaughter, Autaum Benefield.

Survivors include her son, Dwayne and Gail Thrash of Hogansville; sister, Bea and Gary Noble of LaGrange; grandchildren, Roy W. “Chuck” (Michelle) Butts, Jr and Kristie Butts (Robert) Graham, both of Pine Mountain; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, in Shadowlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Buddy James officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday.
