Three members of Troup High’s baseball team have earned a spot on the Georgia Dugout Club Class AAAA preseason all-state team.
Colby Williams, Garrett Casey and Cooper Doughman, who will be seniors for Troup’s 2019 team, were first-team selections to the all-state team.
Trent Bailey, LaGrange’s outstanding senior catcher, was a second-team member of the all-state team.
All four players have already signed their letters of intent to play college baseball, and they’ll be on the field for their high-school teams when the season gets started in February.
Williams and Casey team up to give Troup one of the state’s most formidable one-two combinations at pitcher.
Williams, who has signed with Kennesaw State, was one of the state’s top pitchers the past two seasons, and he’s also a terrific infielder and a key member of the lineup.
Casey, who has signed with William & Mary, transferred to Troup before the 2018 season, and he settled in and was an all-state pitcher.
Casey was also a first baseman who was a critical member of the lineup.
Doughman, who has signed with Chattahoochee Valley Community College, is a catcher who was behind the plate for all of Williams’ and Casey’s pitches last season.
Bailey, who has signed with Georgia College, is a standout catcher for LaGrange.
The 2019 season will begin in February, and Troup and LaGrange will be battling for two of Region 5-AAAA’s four playoff spots.
