Callaway soars past Northside

COLUMBUS – The Callaway Lady Cavaliers overcame a slow start to overwhelm Northside-Columbus 49-37 on Thursday afternoon at Jordan High in Columbus.

Northside led 16-7 after the first quarter, but Callaway came charging back to seize a 19-16 lead at the half.

Callaway kept the momentum going in the third quarter, with Johnson knocking down two 3-pointers, to extend its lead to 35-27.

Callaway (2-6) continued to pull away in the fourth quarter to get its second win of the season.

Freshman guard Gabrielle Johnson led Callaway with 15 points while making a pair of 3-pointers, and Jasmine Dukes scored 11 points.

Kierra Jackson added nine points, and she pulled down 17 rebounds.

Qua Beasley and Niakoe Burks added six points apiece.

The game was the start of a busy three-day stretch for Callaway.

Callaway will host Troup today before returning home to face Valley on Saturday.
