Looking ahead to 2019 in LaGrange
Published 6:01 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2019
It probably felt a little different writing a date this morning. At the start of a new year, it’s always difficult to reprogram our brains that it’s no longer 2018.
Of course, it’s a little hard to move on from last year too.
This entire week has been about reflecting while also looking forward to the year ahead. LaGrange is still a “small city” but big things are happening. Great Wolf Lodge opened in May, the city hired John Brant as fire chief, The Thread continued to expand, elections were held and a superintendent search is underway.
That’s just part of it. Most cities of 30,000 people don’t have that much going on.
It’s hard to know what the year 2019 will bring, but there’s plenty of opportunity for even more growth.
There’s work ongoing on South Bend Park and construction continues on the next phases of The Thread. The city is also currently doing a housing study, trying to determine the community’s future housing needs.
A new year also means another chance to enjoy all the great events Troup County has to offer, from the dragon boat race, the Sweet Land of Liberty parade and the various festivals downtown.
We’re excited about bringing you the news in 2019 and telling the stories of the people who live in this community. We’re excited about what’s ahead.
