According to the LaGrange Police Department, between Dec. 31, 2018, and Jan. 1, 2019, LPD issued 126 traffic contacts city wide.
According to Lt. Mark Kostial, drivers were pulled over for everything from speeding to not wearing seatbelts to not using child restraints. At that time, the LPD also made several DUI arrests.
“During our New Year’s Eve traffic safety checkpoints on the evening [and] night of Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, our officers made two DUI arrests, while issuing a total of 15 additional traffic contacts ranging from an open container offense to expired vehicle license plates,” Kostial said.
That 126 contacts for this New Year holiday is double the 63 traffic contacts issued by LPD between Dec. 31, 2017, and Jan. 1, 2018.
