They’re moving on.

More than 20 local wrestlers have advanced to the state sectional after getting the job done at their area tournaments on Saturday.

To advance to the state sectional, a wrestler had to finish fourth or higher in his weight class at the area tournament.

LaGrange had a strong showing at the Area 5-AAAA tournament, with 11 wrestlers advancing to the state sectional.

Included in that group is Colin Cavender, who won his weight class.

LaGrange’s second-place finishers were Isaiah Coleman, Hunter Brooks, Jacob Anderson and Joseph Bozeman.

Placing third for LaGrange were Matt Callaway and RJ Haley, and Austin Skiff, Colton Clines, Christian Whaley and Charles Ray were fourth.

Troup has seven state-sectional qualifiers, and that includes three men who won their weight classes at the area tournament.

Troup’s area champions are Darious Hanson, Pearson Strickland and Colby Harry.

All three of those men placed at last year’s state meet.

Also for Troup, Jaonvtae Parham was third, and Dylan Hayes, Michael Irvin and Riley Bowles finished fourth.

Nine members of the Callaway wrestling team are headed to the state sectional after strong performances at the Area 4-AA tournament at Bremen on Saturday.

Leading the way for Callaway were LaQuize Gilbert (170 pounds) and Jared Nation (195 pounds), who won their weight classes.

Three Callaway wrestlers, Cameron Key (106 pounds) and Ladarious Williams (132 pounds), and Anthony Elliott (195 pounds), finished second.

Placing third for Callaway were Korbin Browning (120 pounds), Curmondre Bray (182 pounds) and Jakwon Nunley (160 pounds), and Lathan Patterson (285 pounds) was fourth.
