Callaway Gardens to host inaugural BirdFest
Published 5:17 pm Tuesday, February 12, 2019
In alignment with its mission of “connecting people and nature in ways that benefit both,” Callaway Gardens announced the first BirdFest Event.
According to a press release, the event will be hosted by Callaway Garden’s resident Birds of Prey, and this two-day festival will feature bird walks, nature-based workshops, arts and crafts, live bird shows, kids’ games, guest speakers and more. These activities are free with admission.
For individuals wishing for a more intimate bird experience, two private ticketed events will also be offered — an “Early Bird Breakfast” and a “Birds and Brews” Dinner.
In addition to Callaway Gardens’ resident Birds of Prey, visiting birds include a Bald Eagle, an Andean Condor, an Eurasian Eagle Owl, an Ornate Hawk Eagle, a variety of falcons and other raptors.
Kids of all ages can participate in a gardens-wide scavenger hunt, take photos with exotic bird species, create a variety of bird-centric arts and crafts and dissect owl pellets. BirdFest promises to be an educational and exciting opportunity to learn more about our feathered friends.
This festival is included in general gardens admission from Saturday, Feb. 16 to Sunday, Feb. 17, and the event is free for Annual Members and Resort Guests.
Children 12 and under dressed as a bird will receive free admission to Callaway Gardens.
Callaway Gardens opens daily at 9 a.m. and is full of fun for the whole family.
