Carol Cain will be the honoree at the 8th annual Art’ N Bloom.

The spring fundraiser for the LaGrange Art Museum is set for Thursday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Hogansville native, Cain is a beloved civic leader and volunteer, storyteller, educator, actor and theater instructor. Each year the museum honors local women for their contributions to the creative arts.

“Carol is a zany and extremely competent artist. She sets the stage in her classroom like no other. She nurtures experimentation, imagination, discovery and refinement. Her students are actively engaged, portraying characters, creating scenes, directing and designing costumes and sets,” said Sallie Keith, LaGrange Art Museum’s director of education.

Keith, who has known Cain for almost 30 years, continued, “She is a gifted facilitator who encourages her students to take risks, develop confidence and discover their true selves.”

Floral arrangements at the event will interpret art from the museum’s permanent collection as well as the work of Erte, the father of Art Deco. Twelve area floral enthusiasts will create the arrangements. The works of art by Erte were donated to the museum in 2018 by former LaGrange residents Dr. John and Mary Lane.

Serving on the Art ‘N Bloom committee are Jackie Terrail, Nanci Lechacz, Mary Higgins, Leigh Newman, Mary Ann Wilson, Lisa Roake, Lisa Cornell, Marty Rothwell, Debbie Bazen, Kathren Fogg, Mary Ann Rasmussen and Molly Fitzsimmon.

The Del’avant Event Center is the venue for the silent auction and luncheon, which will be catered by Mare Sol/C’Sons.  A villa in Italy is among the enticing items featured in the silent auction.

The public is invited to attend. Invitations will be mailed but the $45 tickets may be ordered online at lagrangeartmuseum.org or by calling (706) 882-3267.
