The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a vehicle fire that occurred Friday morning on Fendig Street.
According to a LPD press release, when officers arrived at the scene at 4:21 a.m., they observed a Ford Expedition parked on the side of the road on fire. The LaGrange Fire Department responded and put out the fire.
Through investigation, the detectives determined the vehicle was stolen from a nearby house from a woman who told police she was in the process of purchasing the vehicle. The same woman had filed a police report several days ago, indicating someone had stolen her purse and the keys to the same Expedition.
“Now we are trying to communicate with the registered owner,” said Lt. Dale Strickland with the LPD.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at (706) 883-2603 or to call Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.
